Yukon Freestyle offers a progression of programs to encourage safe and skilled freestyle ski activities.
Jumps and Bumps is a program developed by the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, which offers a season-long progression for more serious beginners. Participants, aged 6 to 11 years of age, must be able to parallel ski and be able to load and unload the ski lift independently. Skiers are taught freestyle skills, basic air skills, safety and mogul training. The program also includes an introduction to the Terrain Park, free riding, and rail riding.
Our Development, or Junior Competitive Team program is designed for skiers older than 12 years old who are interested in developing their skills for competition at regional and national levels. Dev Team members train at least one day per weekend on snow, and one day on the trampoline through the season. They are expected to participate in at least one Outside competition during the year. Entry into the program is at the discretion of the Head Coach.
The Yukon Competitive Team is made up of older, more experienced skiers who have proven themselves as advanced skiers capable of taking on competitive challenges at the national level. We expect dedication and serious training at this level, and participation in several Outside competitions which may include Canada Winter Games, Arctic Winter Games and the Junior National Freestyle Championships. Training is year-round, with the bulk of activities from September to April. Expect 1-2 days per week on the trampoline, gym workouts, on-snow practice every weekend, and BagJump training on our all-season ramp.
